Privacy policy

Effective date: 5 September, 2026

Tree Rangers Limited ("Tree Rangers", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it, and what rights you have over it.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and the information privacy principles in it.

Who we are

Tree Rangers Limited, certified arborists working across Wellington City, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and the Kāpiti Coast.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you fill in a form on this website, send an enquiry through one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, email us, or ring us, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the suburb or address of the property, and whatever you tell us about the work you need done.

Information about the job. Once you become a customer we also hold quotes, invoices, job notes, site assessments and photographs of the work before, during and after. We sometimes use job photographs in our own marketing. We do not identify you or your address in that marketing unless we have asked you first.

Information collected automatically. When you visit this website we collect standard technical information: the pages you view, how long you spend on them, your approximate location based on your IP address, the device and browser you are using, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected using cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses:

  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used
  • Google Ads, to measure which ads lead to enquiries
  • Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram), to measure which ads lead to enquiries, and to show our ads to people who have visited this site

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. The site will still work, though some parts of it may not behave as expected.

You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and manage the ads you are shown at myadcenter.google.com and facebook.com/adpreferences.

Enquiries through Facebook and Instagram ads

If you send us an enquiry through one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, Meta collects the details you enter in the form, usually your name, phone number, email address, the suburb of the property and a few short answers about the job, and passes them to us so we can call you back to arrange a free quote.

Meta's own handling of that information is governed by their privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • Quote, schedule and carry out tree work
  • Contact you about your enquiry, your quote, or a booked job
  • Invoice you, and keep the business records we are required to keep
  • Assess sites and meet our health, safety and insurance obligations
  • Understand how the website is used and which advertising is working
  • Ask you for a review once a job is finished

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to, and anything we do send has an unsubscribe link on it.

Who we share it with

  • Our crew and any subcontractors, where they need it to do the work
  • Service providers who run our systems for us: Webflow (this website and its forms), Google (analytics and advertising), Meta (advertising and lead forms), XERO (invoicing), and Gmail
  • Our accountant or insurer, where it is necessary
  • Anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where the law requires it

Some of these providers store information on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States and Australia. We only use providers that we reasonably believe protect personal information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that do not turn into work for up to two years, in case you come back to us. Customer records, including quotes, invoices and job notes, we keep for at least seven years, which is the period New Zealand tax law requires. After that we delete them.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our accounts are password protected, and we use established providers who maintain their own security measures. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong.

Email jholden28@treerangers.co.nz or ring 027 618 6400. We will confirm we have received your request and respond within 20 working days. There is no charge for this.
